Health Shouldn't Be a Prison Sentence

Health Shouldn't Be a Prison Sentence

Fitness journey’s aren't as clear cut as they may seem on the internet. I will be the first to say it is a roller coaster of events. However, it shouldn't feel like a prison sentence. So many people avoid working out or physical activity due to it not being fun, time consuming, or just feeling lost on what to do. People are just hoping and wishing to one day wake up and magically have the body of their dreams.

To me, fitness is much like life success. You can't sit around and complain about something without taking action. You will continue to gain weight if you never change your physical activity level and continue with a poor diet. Just like in life, you will never reach your desired level of success without taking action. Neither are easy things to do and take discipline, consistency, and hard work.

On social media, you'll see people posting about their visits at the gym that day. Instagram models make working out look fun and easy. While it is that for some people, it doesn't have to be that way for you. I think that the most important thing is to find some kind of physical activity that you enjoy and do it for a minimum of  30 minutes every day. It could be as simple as stretching, following a workout tv program at home, taking your dog for a walk, there are endless possibilities when it comes to this. Don't think that you have to look like the people you see on the internet or even have the same body goals as them. It’s not always about the outer appearance of your body but the health of your body. Carrying around extra weight can cause many health issues.

People look at health as a prison sentence. Eating healthy seems boring and like you can't eat your favorite snacks. Working out is just a cycle of dying at the gym and being sore for the next week. However, once you realize that it doesn't have to be that way is when the magic happens. You don't have to feel confined on your journey and you should not because you are promoting positive change in your life. Just get out there and do something. Love yourself enough to want the best for your body and soul. Love yourself enough to want to live a healthy and prosperous life! You got this!

If you are looking to get into the gym more and need guidance, I have meal and nutrition guides at heyitsmekmac.com/shop that will give you a run down of workouts, what to eat, what to avoid, and of course tips and motivation.
